Guidelines for Author(s)

The following ethical principles are mandatory for all authors, and their violation may result in application of penalties by the editor, including but not limited to suspension or termination of publication rights. These guidelines can be downloaded from Downloads.

Declaration/Undertaking

while submitting an article to the Journal of Statistics, authors must submit an undertaking/declaration clearly stating transmission of copyrights of the article to the journal, authorship declaration and order, declaration of financial aid and conflict of interest. The undertaking/declaration form is available in downloads.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism in any form is unethical publishing behaviour and is not allowed. The Journal of Statistics uses the Turnitin® software for detecting similarity indices. The following points should be considered while submitting a manuscript to the journal.

  • It is the author(s)' obligation to ensure that the material submitted is totally original, providing correct credit to the works and/or words of others when they have been utilized through proper citations.
  • A similarity index of more than 19% produced by Turnitin will result in a rejection or a conditional approval at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
  • Quotations must be used around the contents taken exactly from the author(s)' previously published work or other sources to avoid plagiarism.
  • The author(s) should guarantee that any pictures included in a report of the study conducted or in the data collection as part of the research are not modified. The author(s) must offer a detailed explanation of the picture generation and production process.

Authorship Criteria

  • It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that all those who have substantially contributed to the manuscripts have been included in the author list and have agreed to the order of authorship.
  • Authorship of the work may be ascribed only to individuals who made a significant contribution to its conception, design, conduct, data analysis, and write up.
  • The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors have viewed and accepted the final version of the manuscript and consented to its submission for publication.
  • The addition, alteration, or deletion in the list of authors that was submitted to the Journal of Statistics at the time of initial submission is not allowed.
  • The author(s) should give raw data to the Editor if there is any doubt regarding the correctness or validity of the study effort during the review process.

Acknowledgement

  • A manuscript submitted to the Journal of Statistics should always include appropriate acknowledgement of the work of others, including clear identification of the sources of any material mentioned or supplied, except what is common knowledge.
  • Authors must acknowledge the efforts of persons, organizations, and institutions that helped with technical, literary, or financial aid.
  • Authors must acknowledge the reviewers for their suggestions to help improve the manuscript after suggested changes for accepted articles.

Reproduction of Research

  • The Journal of Statistics will not get permission from third-party publishers to publish content received from them.
  • The authors of an article should ensure that all necessary permissions are secured prior to submitting it to the Journal of Statistics.
  • Authors must guarantee that the study report and data include sufficient detail and references to enable others to reproduce the findings.
  • If the work incorporates portions of material retrieved from other sources, it must be accompanied by valid authorization from the appropriate copyright holder.

Multiple submissions

  • The practice of simultaneously submitting the same paper to several journals is unethical and unprofessional.
  • Authors should not submit a manuscript describing essentially the same research to more than one journal or publication unless it is a re-submission of a rejected or withdrawn article.
  • Authors may submit a manuscript already published in abstract form, such as annual conference proceedings or reports with restricted distribution and availability by government organizations or universities.

Privacy of participants and consent

  • Authors must protect the privacy of study subjects and do not utilize their data without their agreement.
  • Authors must get clear and informed permission from participants whose identities need to be disclosed in the research. Consent must be obtained from the participant's relatives in the case of his or her demise.
