Our mission is to provide a platform to our students for excellence and innovation in Visual Arts, Media and Design, and to facilitate creative engagement, modernism and professionalism.
The Department of Fine Arts became an independent academic unit at the University in 2002, with Mr. Erfan Ullah Babar serving as its first Chairperson. However, the roots of the Department go much deeper—back to the 1960s—when Fine Arts was first introduced as an Intermediate subject under the guidance of Professor Aslam Minhas.
In 2006, the Department launched the Minhas Art Gallery, named in honor of Professor Minhas. The gallery's inaugural exhibition celebrated his legacy and, to this day, continues to serve as a platform for showcasing the work of both renowned and emerging artists.
Now in 2025, under the leadership of Ms. Amna Anwaar Khan, the Department stands as a hub of creativity, innovation, and academic excellence in the fields of Graphic design, Painting, Film and video, Art History and Digital media design. With a strong emphasis on contemporary practices, critical thinking, and community engagement, the Department continues to nurture the next generation of artists and creative thinkers who are shaping the cultural landscape locally and globally.
