The Sociology Department at the University has been an integral part of the academic landscape since its inception. Established in 1960 as a minor subject, it has evolved into a vibrant hub of sociological inquiry and learning. In 2017, the University launched a BS (Hons) program in Sociology, recognizing its paramount importance in contemporary discourse. Following the success of the undergraduate program, the department expanded its offerings and introduced MPhil program in 2023. Led by educators and scholars, the department cultivates a rich intellectual tradition, fostering inclusivity, diversity, and academic excellence.
