Introduction

Established in 2021 under the Institute of History, the Department of Archive Studies enroots students in a specialised way to study archival sources. Archive Studies attempts to understand how archives are important for life and for living. It facilitates the researchers in shaping of society’s collective memory and contributing to constitute cultural and intellectual heritage of a society. Record management of old documents is not only necessary for the understanding of present but for the formulation of the future. It also helps us in the preservation of the valuable legacy that we hold for posterity.

Department of Archive Studies provides a unique and specialized environment for archival education where students are provided with a comprehensive ground to learn specialized methods and techniques to preserve archival material.
