MS/MPhil Programme

GC University Lahore launched its MPhil Programme in 1999. Ms/MPhil Programmes are being offered in the following subjects to both male and female candidates.

General Eligibility, Rules & Regulations

1. Candidate must have 16-years of education with minimum 2.5/4.00 CGPA (Semester System) OR 50% marks (Annual System) in MA/MSc, BA/BSc (Hons) OR Equivalent degree from HEC recognized institutions.

2. The candidates have to qualify the GCU-GAT (General) conducted by GC University Lahore OR GAT (General) conducted by NTS is also acceptable.

3. The University reserves the right not to offer admission to any program/ major.

4. Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

MS Computer Science, MS Data Science

  • A 16-years degree, in the relevant Computing/ Engineering/ Science* disciplines from an accredited educational institution.
  • For MS Data Science: A degree of BS (CS) as per HEC curriculum. Students with 16-years of education in following domains (Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics) are eligible to apply provided that they have taken deficiency courses*.
  • Minimum CGPA of 2.5/4.0 (Semester System) or First Division (Annual System) with no third division (Annual System) or ‘D’ grade (Semester System) throughout the academic career.
  • NTS GAT (General) with a minimum of 50% marks (must be valid on the date of admission) or 50% score in any other entry test adopted by the University, prior to admission for MS/MPhil Program.
  • *Note: The Departmental Admission Committee will determine the deficiency courses as deemed appropriate.

    MS Electrical Engineering

    • For MS Electrical Engineering with specialization in Telecom Engineering

    BSc Engineering/ BE Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecom Engineering.

    • For MS Electrical Engineering with specialization in Electronic Engineering

    BSc Engineering/ BE Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering

    • For MS Electrical Engineering with specialization in Control Engineering

    BS Engineering/ BE Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics & Control Engineering.

    • For MS Electrical Engineering with specialization in Computer Engineering

    BSc Engineering/ BE Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering. In case of degree titles other than those mentioned above, the suitability of specialization will be determined by the Departmental Admission Committee.

    Note:

    Candidate must have no third division throughout the academic career.

    Award of Degree (MS Electrical Engineering)

    The candidate must earn at least 36 credit hours by passing the courses in approved curriculum set for this Degree including 12 credit hours of research thesis to qualify for the award of MS in Electrical Engineering Degree.

    MPhil (Freshwater Biology, Fisheries & Aquaculture)

    BSc (Hons)/ BS (16 Years of education) in Zoology/ Freshwater Biology/ Fisheries and Aquaculture/ Applied Fisheries from HEC recognized institution with minimum CGPA of 2.50/4.00 (Semester system) or 50% marks (annual system).

    Disability Seats

    Two percentage (2%) seats are reserved for special / disabled candidates. Such candidates should provide a “Disability Certificate” obtained from the Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department, Govt. of the Punjab/ Other provinces at the time of interview. Further, the entrance test is mandatory for the disabled/ special students.

    However, special/ disabled candidates are also required to meet the minimum CGPA requirement, qualify the GCU-GAT/NTS-GAT and pass the interview. In addition, their research capabilities will be assessed prior to the grant of admission, failure to meet these requirements will result in the admission not being granted.
