Government College University (GCU) Lahore has launched its first-ever Faculty Sports Gala 2026, aimed at promoting healthy activities among faculty members and strengthening teamwork across the university. The gala was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, who formally opened the event through a draw ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said the Faculty Sports Gala is designed to encourage an active lifestyle among faculty members, build stronger collaboration, and foster a positive and pleasant academic environment.
The sports gala features competitions in badminton, squash, table tennis, tennis, chess, cricket, and tug of war, bringing together faculty members from various departments in a spirit of sportsmanship.
Chairman Sports Board Yasar Sultan said sports activities have contributed to improving the physical and mental well-being of faculty members, adding that the university plans to further enhance and expand such initiatives in the future.
The ceremony was attended by heads of different departments, faculty members, Chairman Sports Board Yasar Sultan, and Director Sports GCU Muhammad Waseem Akhtar, along with other university officials.
