Reflecting on the broader implications of the bilateral relationship, Zhao pointed to the upcoming visit of Pakistan's Prime Minister to China as a pivotal moment for enhancing practical collaboration and upgrading CPEC projects. He emphasized the importance of affordable, quality education, expressing his wish that this scholarship from the Chinese Consulate would work for the betterment and well-being of the students.
The Consul General also mentioned the 73rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, highlighting the enduring bond between the two nations. He lauded Pakistan as the first Muslim country to recognize and establish formal diplomatic relations with China, a gesture China has never forgotten.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir first offered her condolences to the Iranian nation and other Muslim and Eastern nations for the tragic demise of the Iranian President, which led to the alteration of the event's schedule.
She expressed gratitude to the Chinese Consul General for gracing the event with his presence, considering it a matter of great pride for the institute. She encouraged students not only to earn their degrees but also to groom themselves, highlighting that degrees should not just be credentials but a means to self-improvement.
She urged students to be disciplined, well-educated, and to strive for excellence in their respective fields, as one's reputation is a lifelong asset. Drawing from her own experience, she reminded students that success comes from hard work and consistency, advising them to correct themselves and not blame society or institutions for any shortcomings.
Quoting verses from the renowned poet Allama Iqbal, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of unity among Eastern nations and the need to look towards nations like China as role models for hard work and progress. IR Department Incharge Dr. Ahmad Raza also addressed the ceremony, which served as a platform to welcome new students and highlight the achievements of seniors.
