The Government College University (GCU) Lahore and Punjab Probation and Parole Service signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony held at the University’s Syndicate Committee Room. This strategic partnership aims to foster collaboration in various academic and community-oriented initiatives.
The MoU was signed by GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir and Director General of Punjab Probation and Parole Mr. Muhammad Shahid Iqbal. The signing ceremony was also attended by Dean Prof. Dr. Sultan Shah, Director of Academic Planning and External Links Dr. Fauzia Shaheen, and Chairperson of the Psychology Department Prof. Syeda Salma Hassan.
The areas of cooperation outlined in the MoU include providing internship opportunities for students, collaborating on joint research projects and publications, engaging in community initiatives, and conducting capacity-building and training programs.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir said the primary purpose of this agreement is to organize awareness programs on psychological issues. She emphasized that both students and faculty would benefit significantly from this collaboration. She reiterated GCU's zero-tolerance policy towards the harassment of women, highlighting the university’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment.
Mr. Muhammad Shahid Iqbal expressed his pride in the partnership between his institution and his alma mater. He highlighted the potential positive impact of this collaboration on society by addressing psychological issues through counseling and community engagement.
"This way, we will be able to create harmony and happiness among people because many psychological issues can be resolved by counseling. We strongly hope that this MoU will be helpful for society," said Mr. Iqbal.
