Biography

Dr. Gulzar Muhammad is an accomplished researcher and educator in the Department of Chemistry at Government College University (GCU), Lahore. He earned his PhD in Organic and Polymer Chemistry from the University of Sargodha in 2018. His research focuses on organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, polymer science, nanotechnology, and green chemistry.
Dr. Muhammad has published over 90 research papers, book chapters, and reviews, with a cumulative JCR impact factor of 271.0, over 2,300 citations, and an h-index of 23. His studies on biopolymer-based hydrogels, stimuli-responsive materials, and sustainable nanoparticle synthesis have advanced the fields of biomedical and environmental chemistry.
He has supervised more than 60 research students at the PhD, MPhil, and BS levels and has recorded over 500 online chemistry lectures freely available to students worldwide. At GCU, he also serves as Research Laboratory Incharge, Prospectus Coordinator, and Departmental Sports Coordinator.
A recipient of the Deputy Commissioner’s Gold Medal, Dr. Muhammad has served as Editor of Drug Science and Pharmacy and as a reviewer for HEC-funded projects and international journals. He has also completed academic training at Oakland University in the United States under the U.S. State Department’s Action Research Program.
