Biography
My research interests span contemporary moral & political philosophy, critical theory, social philosophy, and questions concerning human dignity, justice, freedom, and human flourishing. My academic research has developed across different but interconnected areas of philosophical and social inquiry. At the Master’s level, I examined the sociological thought of Dr. Ali Shariati, with particular attention to his understanding of society, human agency, and social transformation. My MPhil research focused on a critical analysis of Herbert Marcuse’s critique of advanced industrial society, engaging with questions of technology, domination, freedom, consumerism, and the effects of modern industrial rationality on human life. These earlier inquiries established my continuing interest in the relationship between philosophical thought, social structures, technology, and human well-being.
Building on these earlier engagements with society, technology, and human agency, my doctoral research examined the ethical significance of human dignity within Martha Nussbaum’s capability approach, with particular attention to its relevance to Pakistani society. In this work, I explored the relationship between dignity, justice, human capabilities, and the social and institutional conditions necessary for individuals to lead lives worthy of human dignity. My emerging research interests extend toward applied ethics, philosophy of technology, and ethical & governance implications of AI.
