Biography

Dr. Shafaat Yar Khan completed his M.Sc. and M. Phil (Zoology) from GCU, Lahore1996 and 2004 respectively. He started his professional career in 1997 as Assistant Entomologist in the Punjab Health Department and later on in 2004 was hired by the World Health Organization (WHO) for Polio eradication initiative and vaccine-preventable diseases, being an expert. Dr. Khan has vast experience of working as a consultant with World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta USA, and UNICEF in different parts of the world including the USA, Nigeria, North Sudan and Sierra Leone.
In 2008 Dr. Khan joined the University of Sargodha as Lecturer in Zoology and in 2017 he completed his Ph.D. (Vascular Biology) with distinction from Medical University of Vienna, Austria, on a HEC Pakistan awarded fully funded merit scholarship. He joined Department of Zoology GC University Lahore in January 2023 as Associate Professor. Dr. Khan has supervised one PhD more than 70 postgraduate and 20 graduate students, has published 65 research papers in national and international scientific journals, has won five research grants, three travel grants from national and international organisations. Moreover, he has presented his research work at 11 international and 10 national scientific conferences.
