Dr. Engr. Junaid Zafar is Chairperson of the Electrical Engineering Department and Director, Youth Development Centre at Government College University (GCU) Lahore, with over 20 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning solutions within the realm of Electrical Engineering and Translational AI. His research focuses on deploying AI-driven methodologies across intelligent systems, healthcare technologies, and real-world engineering applications, with strong emphasis on translating advanced algorithms into practical, deployable solutions.

His expertise includes AI-enabled signal and image processing, data augmentation for medical and engineering datasets, Graph Neural Networks for complex system analytics, and energy-efficient deep learning architectures for real-time embedded and medical devices.
A recognized Key Opinion Leader in AI-enabled engineering and healthcare innovation, he has published 60+ high-impact journal articles and supervised 100+ MS/MPhil students.

Dr. Zafar is a recipient of the Roll of Honor (Government of Pakistan, 2002) and the HEC Outstanding Researcher Award (2015). He has secured competitive research funding from HEC, ComDev Europe, the European Commission, and ICT R&D.
