Biography

Dr. Yasar Mahmood is a statistician currently serving as Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics, Government College University (GCU), Lahore. He earned his PhD in Statistics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where his research focused on developing control charts. His work builds on over a decade of experience in statistical process control and acceptance sampling.

Dr. Yasar Mahmood began his professional journey at the Punjab Bureau of Statistics before joining GCU Lahore in 2009. Over the years, he has contributed extensively to teaching, departmental administration, and academic quality assurance, holding key roles such as Program Coordinator, QEC focal person, and member of various academic committees.

His research has appeared in reputable international journals, including Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Production Research, and International Journal for quality in Health Care. He has also supervised numerous MPhil, BS, and MSc theses across applied and theoretical statistics.

Committed to academic development, Dr. Yasar Mahmood has participated in national and international workshops and conferences, and has been recognized with the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS 2022) and a Best Publication Award (2022 & 2023) from USM. He remains dedicated to advancing statistical methods and fostering a strong research culture in his field.
