Biography
I am Dr. Huma Pervaiz, an Assistant Professor of History with a research focus on marginalized communities, religious conversion, gender, and minority experiences in colonial Punjab. I completed my PhD in History at GC University Lahore on “Socio-Economic Changes Among Natives Converted to Christianity in Colonial Punjab (1849–1947),” and my MPhil thesis titled “Marginalized Being: An Anthropological Gaze on Eunuchs of Lahore.” Both projects reflect my commitment to studying overlooked and silenced social groups.
I teach courses on gender history, minority studies, religious transformation, and South Asian colonial history. I have also introduced an innovative new course, Religious Conversion and in Colonial India. Over the years, I have served as PhD Coordinator (2020–2022) and BS Coordinator (2023–2025), and I am an active member of the PhD, MPhil, and BS thesis review committees. Since September 2025, I have also served as Advisor to the Undergraduate History Society.
