Dr. Rahib Hussain (Ph.D., Postdoc)
Dr. Rahib Hussain is an Assistant Professor (Regular) at the Sustainable Development Study Centre, Government College University Lahore, since October 20, 2023. He specializes in Earth and Environmental Sciences, focusing on Climate Change, Soil, Air, Water, Microplastics, Toxicology and Health, Mineral-to-Energy, Environmental Geosciences, Geochemistry, Rare Earth and Critical Elements, Isotope Geochemistry, GIS and Remote Sensing, Hydrogeology, Mineralogy, Soil and Hydrogeochemistry, and Mining Waste Management. His research also explores toxic trace elements, selenium, and their environmental, health, and economic impacts, along with sustainable rehabilitation of mine waste–contaminated soils using eco-friendly technologies.
He earned his M.Phil. in Environmental Geosciences from the University of Peshawar (2014) and his Ph.D. from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He co-led four research projects worth over 10 million RMB with Prof. Dr. Luo Kunli (CAS, China). Dr. Hussain has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international conferences.
His honors include the Outstanding International Graduate Award (CAS, 2019), CAS-TWAS Ph.D. Fellowship, CAS-PIFI President Fellowship, China, and the Best Researcher Award from the University of Peshawar. He has also completed many specialized trainings in interdisciplinary sciences.
