Biography
I am Dr. Farzana Riaz, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Urdu department GCU Lahore. My academic journey has been shaped by a deep and enduring engagement with Urdu literature, both in its classical richness and its modern intellectual expressions. I hold a PhD in Urdu Literature, and my scholarly interests revolves around literary criticism, classical and modern poetry, and the cultural and linguistic dimensions of literary texts. Over the years, I have remained committed to exploring how literature reflects, shapes, and questions the social and cultural realities around us. As a teacher, I strive to create an environment where students not only study literature but experience it as a living, evolving discourse. I believe in encouraging critical thinking, close reading, and meaningful dialogue, enabling my students to develop their own perspectives and voices. Beyond teaching and research, I actively engage in academic and literary activities that promote the appreciation of Urdu language and literature. I consider it both a responsibility and a privilege to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of my institution. My research interests include Urdu literary criticism, comparative literary studies, stylistics, gender representation in literature, and the pedagogical approaches to teaching literature at the university level. I am particularly interested in bridging classical traditions with contemporary theoretical frameworks.
