Biography
Dr. Almas Khanum is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urdu at Government College University Lahore, Pakistan. She is a distinguished scholar with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. Her areas of specialization include classical and modern Urdu literature, Iqbal Studies, linguistics, gender studies, and contemporary literary criticism. She has published research articles in peer-reviewed journals and received the Best Paper Award from the Punjab Higher Education Commission. She also serves as Editor of the departmental research journal “Tahqeeq Nama.”
Dr. Khanum has supervised BS, MPhil, and PhD researchers and is committed to fostering a research-oriented academic environment. She actively participates in national and international conferences, representing her department and university through scholarly presentations. As Coordinator for External Linkages, she played a key role in establishing MOUs with international universities. She completed her Post-Doctorate at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Baku, and contributed to founding the first Azerbaijan–Urdu Research Center at GCU Lahore.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Khanum has organized literary festivals, conferences, seminars, and student-centered activities at GCU Lahore and abroad. Her dedication to critical inquiry, research excellence, and literary engagement continues to advance Urdu studies and enrich the academic community.
