Biography

Dr. Muhammad Farooq Haider is a distinguished scholar who is currently serving as a Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at GC University Lahore. He started his carreer at GCU and his entire 24 years' teaching experience is associated with this prestigious institute. He holds PhD in Islamic Studies from Sheikh Zayd Islamic Centre, University of the Punjab with specialization in ʿUlūm al-Qur’ān. His academic journey also includes a post-doctorate from Ankara University of Social Sciences, Turkiye, which strengthened his research orientation and broadened his scholarly perspective. His areas of expertise include Qur’ānic Sciences, Tafsīr and Islamic thought.
Throughout his career, he has authored more than 50 research papers in renowned national and international journals and has also written five books on Qur’ānic sciences. He has taught a range of courses including ʿUlūm al-Qur’ān, ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth, Uṣūl al-Fiqh, Contemporary Trends in Tafsīr and Islamic Social thought. He has supervised over 100 theses at various degree levels. His work reflects a consistent focus on Qur’anic studies, thoughtful pedagogy and a clear commitment to advancing scholarship in his field.
