Dr. Shakeel Mahmood

Biography

Dr Mahmood is Chairperson, Department of Geography, Government College University Lahore, Pakistan, with 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. My research focuses on Disaster Risk Modelling and Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Geo- Environmental Hazards with applications of Geospatial Approaches. I hold a PhD in Geography (University of Peshawar), MPhil (GCU Lahore), MSc GIS (University of the Punjab) and MSc Geography as Gold Medalist (University of Peshawar). I have published over 70 research articles and book chapters in international journals, receiving more than 1500 citations and impact factor more than 120. I was awarded as Young Scientist of the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and serve as Editor-in-Chief and academic editor for several scholarly publications. I am actively engaged in postgraduate supervision, curriculum development, and national academic committees, guided by my professional philosophy: “Disaster Risk Reduction is the business of everyone.”
