Biography

Nayyer Abbas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Government College University, Lahore, Pakistan. He earned his PhD from the same institution. His doctoral thesis, titled ‘Socio-Economic Rehabilitation of Refugees in Toba Tek Singh, 1947–1961’, examined the causes of violence, migration, and refugee rehabilitation, as well as their broader implications following the Partition of Punjab, with a specific focus on the Toba Tek Singh District. More broadly, his current research interests include the socio-economic impact of the Partition of India, refugee studies, colonial Punjab and the construction of refugee identity in Pakistan.
