I am an emotions historian. I have an extensive and background knowledge of the history of emotions which is a new field in the discipline of history. I have produced some research articles on history of grief of the Shia community which have provided me theoretical frameworks to study the history of religious rituals. Moreover, I teach courses such as History of Emotions, and Religion and Emotions. My Ph.D. dissertation focuses on Islam and Emotions in colonial Punjab (1849-1947). My research interests explore through devotional literature and rituals that the Muslim community used weeping and happiness to construct and preserve its identity.
