Biography

Prof. Dr. Sikander Ali did his Ph.D (2005) from University of the Punjab, Lahore in the field Industrial Biotechnology. He got academic Roll of Honour and Gold medal for 1st position in M.Sc Botany. With over 23 years of experience, he is currently working as Chairperson, Department of Microbiology and ‘Tenured Professor’ at Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (IIB), GC University Lahore. As an established researcher and an eminent scientist of Pakistan, he is one of the founder members who established IIB. He has published over 350 research papers in Journals of National and International repute. As a Principal Investigator/Co-PI, he headed 2 National and 2 International research projects. He has supervised/co-supervised about 220 M.Sc/B.Sc Hons., 150 M.Phil/MS and 3 Ph.D research students. He has won several international awards most notably JW Fulbright, USA (2002), Frost and Sullivan, UK (2003), Ya Hua, PR China (2004), Monbusho, Japan (2005), Active Scientist of Pakistan (2006), Endeavour, Australia (2011) and Eminent Scientific Discovery, UK (2014). Thirteen consecutive times, he has been declared as the ‘Productive Scientist of Pakistan’ by PCST from 2002-2014. His current Impact Factor is ~1250+ with over 6,500 Author Citations as indexed in Thomson Reuters (ISI Database Dec. 2024/JCR).
