Dr. Ghulam Murtaza is a tenured Associate Professor at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics (CASP). He completed his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics under the Indigenous 5000 PhD Scholarship Program of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the Department of Physics, University of the Punjab. He was also awarded the International Research Support Initiative Program (IRSIP) scholarship by HEC, through which he conducted advanced research in the Spintronics Laboratory at the University of York, UK. Dr. Murtaza joined CASP in 2012 and has since been actively engaged in numerous research projects focusing on the investigation of magnetic, energy storage, thermoelectric, and solar materials. His research activities also explore the role of ion beams in material science. He is currently leading two research groups: the Materials Simulation and Synthesis Group and the Accelerator Group.
He is an approved Ph.D. supervisor by HEC and has successfully supervised 10 Ph.D., 44 M.Phil., and 4 B.S. students in various research fields. Several additional students are currently working under his supervision on diverse projects. Dr. Murtaza has published more than 180 research articles with an h-index of 41, covering materials investigations of ferrites, half-metals, Heusler alloys for spintronics, perovskites and double perovskites for solar cells, metal hydrides, and electrode materials for energy storage devices.
