Dr. Zafar Siddiq, is currently serving as “Associate Professor” at the Department of Botany Government College University Lahore. He passed his MSc and M.Phil in Botany 2002 and 2004 respectively from Government College University Lahore. In 2003 he started his service in the Department of Botany Government College University Lahore as “Assistant Curator”. In 2009 he was selected as Fellow of British Council Pakistan to study for a diploma in the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew UK. In 2011 he was awarded with PhD scholarship by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and completed PhD in Ecology in 2016. In 2019 he was selected as Assistant Professor of Botany in GCU Lahore and Associate Professor here in 2023. He has visited China in 2018 and 2025 for collaborative research and also visited Nepal for a training of SARC countries by organized UK. He has completed one research project about native species conservation in 2011 and currently has two research projects as PI one from UK and one from GCU Lahore. He has over 55 research publications in renowned peer reviewed international journals with impact factor over 140 and H-index 16. He has also written book chapters and booklets related to his subject. He has been presenter and focal person for a number of conferences and workshops at national and international levels. He has been recently awarded with Excellent Research Award for year 2025. Over 50 postgraduate students has completed their research theses under his supervision.
