I am Dr. Zahid Hussain, a researcher and academic specializing in Biochemistry and Biotechnology. I completed my Ph.D. (2003–2007) at the Graz University of Technology (TUG), Austria, where I worked on the molecular recruitment of novel enzymes from endophytic bacteria. Before that, I earned my M.Phil. (1994–1996) and M.Sc. (1992–1994) in Biochemistry from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, and my B.Sc. (1988–1991) from Government Degree College, Nowshera.
Over the years, I have worked extensively in areas such as enzyme engineering, protein stability enhancement, directed evolution, molecular biology, vaccine development, and microbial biotechnology. My research includes cloning, expression, purification, and characterization of industrially important enzymes, improving enzyme activity and thermostability, conducting site-directed mutagenesis, analyzing antimicrobial and anticancer compounds, and metabolic and protein engineering. I have also contributed to vaccine development and diagnostic kit production. Some of my work is listed under NCBI Accession Numbers FN563833.1, FN563427.1, FN562417.1, and FN563968.1.
I have accumulated more than 23 years of research and teaching experience, including 3.5 years of Ph.D. research, 2.5 years at the M.Phil level, and 17 years of post-doctoral teaching and research. Currently, I am serving as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, GC University Lahore. Before this role, I served as an Assoc
