GC University Lahore is one of the oldest flag-bearing institutes in Pakistan. GCU has established a new department of agriculture at KSK Campus. As the department is located in the heart of the rice belt, it aims to provide potential solutions to the agricultural problems of this agroecological zone. The agriculture department is established with the mission of:
“Preparing the next generation of researchers to deal with the potential threats to agriculture, food resources, natural resources, and sustainable communities through innovation and science-based, result-driven technology.”
A degree in Agricultural Sciences provides students with a broad education in agriculture production, agribusiness, leadership, agricultural communications, agricultural education, resource management, and environmental / sustainability challenges, to mention a few. During the four-year BS in Agriculture, the "Agrarian-Ravians" at the newly established Department of Agriculture will be benefitted as:
- This department will ensure the delivery of quality education and research in different fields of agriculture science. It will also enable the students to get jobs in the public and private sectors of the agriculture domain.
- Department of Agriculture at GCU Lahore will go beyond campus boundaries, partnering with communities to explore ideas and solve the region's and state's complex agricultural problems.
- Well-equipped classrooms and laboratories for conducting research in food sciences, plant breeding and genetics, agronomy, plant pathology, soil science, and other related fields.
- The Department of Agriculture has collaborated with several international and national institutes, increasing the chances for graduates to get fellowships and jobs.
