GCU’s 'Tarz-e-Nou' Festival spotlights student talent in literature, art, and music

Government College University (GCU) Lahore’s literary society, Majlis-e-Iqbal, hosted the third edition of its annual literary festival, "Tarz-e-Nou," featuring 24 literary and arts competitions for students.

The festival featured competitive events including Tehtul Lafz, Bait Baazi, Urdu Ghazal, English Poetry, Urdu Nazm, live painting, and monologues, culminating in a Sham-e-Ghazal musical evening. All events drew packed audiences to the university's Bukhari Auditorium.

Praising the successful execution of the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry commended the students' creative potential, stating that GCU remains deeply committed to providing an environment where literature, critical thinking, and performing arts thrive alongside academic excellence.

Majlis-e-Iqbal Advisor Dr. Safeer Hyder also emphasized the significance of the festival, remarking that "Tarz-e-Nou" serves as a vital platform for young Ravians to explore their artistic talents, refine their craft, and stay connected with their rich cultural and literary heritage.

The on-stage contests concluded with a thrilling Bait Baazi finale. This competitive segment was followed by the Sham-e-Ghazal, organized in partnership with the Nazir Ahmad Music Society, where student vocalists performed classic ghazals.

The festival concluded with a formal prize distribution ceremony, where Dr. Safeer Hyder and Majlis-e-Iqbal President Muhammad Owais awarded certificates and prizes to the winners.
