Government College University Lahore and Korea University’s BK21 Four R&E Center for Korean Language and Literature have signed an agreement for cooperation to expand academic collaboration in teaching and research, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives and conferences.
The agreement was signed by Hyung-Dae Lee, director of the BK21 Four R&E Center, and Dr Shaukat Ali, registrar of GCU Lahore. It outlines cooperation in the exchange of faculty, staff and researchers; student and visiting-scholar mobility; sharing of academic materials and publications; and joint programmes such as collaborative teaching, research projects, conferences and cultural activities.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, speaking on the occasion, said the partnership would create new pathways for students and faculty and strengthen the university’s international academic linkages, particularly in language, literature and interdisciplinary research.
The Korean side also expressed keen interest in launching a BS programme in Korean Language and Literature at GCU Lahore.
Dr Fouzia Shahin, Director Academic Planning and External Links, said the agreement will remain in force for an initial period of five years and will then renew annually. She expressed gratitude to the Punjab Information Technology Board for facilitating and coordinating the collaboration.
