Government College University (GCU) Lahore is hosting the Lahore Board’s Inter-Collegiate Sports Gala Badminton Championship 2026, with students from nine colleges taking part in the two-day competition. The championship was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry.

Organised by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, the opening ceremony was also attended by GCU Chairman Sports Board Yasir Sultan, Director Sports Muhammad Waseem Akhtar and BISE Lahore Director Sports Dr. Badar Mohy-ud-Din.

Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor said the university prioritises sports and co-curricular activities, describing them as essential for students’ physical wellbeing while also promoting discipline, patience and team spirit. He added that sports provide a healthy platform for positive engagement and help students develop habits supportive of a balanced routine.

Dr. Badar Mohy-ud-Din said inter-collegiate competitions help polish students’ abilities and encourage a healthy competitive culture. Muhammad Waseem Akhtar welcomed the participating institutions and reiterated GCU’s commitment to ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
