A team from Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC), Lahore won the prestigious team trophy at the 45th All Pakistan Allama Iqbal Bilingual Declamation Contest, hosted by the Government College University (GCU) Lahore Debating Society (GCUDS).
As many as 50 teams of orators from higher education institutions across Pakistan participated in the annual contest.
Jazib Khan and Chaudhry Nalain Abbas from GCU Lahore concluded the event with their memorable speeches in English and Urdu, respectively. However, as per tradition, the host team did not contest for medals.
Saif Ullah from AIMC Lahore was adjudged the Best Urdu Speaker and received the Dr. Majid Nizami Medal, while Aimal Khan from LUMS Lahore was awarded the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medal for the Best English Speaker of the event.
Fareed Khan from Gulab Devi Medical Complex, Lahore, secured second position in the English category, while Rao Muhammad Mohsin from Chenab College, Jhang, stood second in the Urdu category. Hamza Mubashir from the University of Lahore won the overall consolation prize.
The panel of judges included Dr. Sameer Ahmed, Khawaja Azhar Iftikhar, Ms. Fatima Batool, Mr. Shuja Ur Rehman Dogar, Mr. Kamran Khan, Mr. Asim Hameed Lodhi, Syed Israr-ul-Hassan, Khawaja Yasin Mudassir, Mr. Fahad Mehmood Sokhtah, Adnan Farooq, Rana Muhammad Kafeel Ashraf, Mr. Haris Ali Virk, and Mr. Saif-ur-Rehman Jafar.
Senior faculty members, led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Shahid, Emeritus Professor of Persian Language and Literature, distributed shields and medals among the winners of the declamation contest.
