The Government College University Lahore Nazir Ahmad Music Society (GCU NAMS) lifted the Syed Wajid Ali Team Trophy at the All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) and secured top positions in several categories.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry met the winning team and congratulated them on their outstanding performance, saying, “It is a great achievement for the Ravians. We have won the running team trophy numerous times—more than any other institution in the history of APMC.”
GCU student Hammad Ali won first position in folk music and received the Anees Raza Gold Medal, while Syed Saqib Anwar won the gold medal in the string category. Mubashar Hassan stood second in semi-classical, Syeda Amna Batool stood second in ghazal, and Obaid Yousaf stood second in instruments. In ghazal, Shujaat Ali secured third position.
The Vice Chancellor said that NAMS continues to nurture emerging artists who bring pride to the University and the nation.
Meanwhile, the Syed Imtiaz Ali Taj Society for Dramatics of the Department of Intermediate Studies at Government College University Lahore won first position at The City School Paragon Campus festival, Theatrica 2025, completing a hat-trick with a third consecutive title.
GCU’s play “Andha Insaaf,” directed by Ms. Seemab Shafiq, advisor to the society, received strong appreciation and won six awards. The team lifted the Overall Championship Trophy and won Best Script for Seemab Shafiq and Khadija. Abdul Hadi was named Best Actor in a Leading Role, Shahzaib Haider won Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Saad Usman won Best Actor in a Comic Role, and Dawar Zulqarnain won Best Actor in a Negative Role.
The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the dramatics society on their achievement, praising their hard work, discipline, and commitment to theatre.
