An on-campus awareness walk was held at Government College University Lahore on the World Statistics Day to highlight the importance of data and analytical thinking for evidence-based decision-making. Students, faculty and researchers participated in the walk led by Prof. Dr. Babar Aziz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Prof. Inam ul Haq, senior visiting faculty and statistician, said the initiative aims to make students and researchers aware of the crucial role accurate data plays in national development and policymaking. Prof. Jamal Abdul Nasir, chairperson of the Department of Statistics, noted that statistics is no longer confined to a single discipline but underpins every field of knowledge and decision-making. Prof. Dr. Babar Aziz stressed the need to place statistical analysis at the center of education and research so decisions are grounded in scientific evidence.
