Reopening Ceremony of the Centre of Excellence for China Studies at GCU

A ceremony was held at Government College University Lahore to mark the reopening of the Centre of Excellence for China Studies. The chief guest of the event was Zhao Shiren, the Consul General of China. Other distinguished guests from the university included Prof. Dr. Sultan Shah (Dean, Faculty of Languages, Islamic & Oriental Learning), Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, and Dr. Ahmad Raza Khan, Incharge, Centre of Excellence for China Studies.
During the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad Raza Khan emphasized that the Centre will contribute to strengthening the ties between Pakistan and China through research on bilateral relations.
Addressing the gathering, Zhao Shiren stated that learning the Chinese language will provide students with a deeper understanding of China's history and culture. He also announced that the Chinese government will offer more scholarships to students in the future.
Zhao Shiren further noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has entered its second phase, which will further enhance economic development between the two countries. He added that China and Pakistan are working together to improve the quality of higher education.
Prof. Dr. Sultan Shah highlighted that efforts are underway for the full restoration of the Centre, and it will soon become more active in its research and academic activities. He assured that every effort would be made to make the Centre a success.
