The Government College University Lahore has won the zonal round of All Pakistan Inter-University Basketball Championship 2022 by beating Punjab University by 10 points in the finals. The championship was organized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan at GCU Lahore.

The team GCU beat Punjab University scored 64 points in the finals against the Punjab University.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the Zone D championship in which ten universities including University of Education, LUMS, UMT and Garrison University were participating.

Speaking on occasion, Prof. Zaidi said GCU is making an active participation in Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive by hosting different sports competitions. He added that they are taking concrete measures to make GCU a nursery to produce international standard sportspersons. He said they wished to establish the Kamyab Jawan Sports School for which Special Advisor to Prime Minister Usman had assured them maximum support from the Government.

Earlier, the team GCU had beaten the Garrison University in the semifinal.
