Speakers at a World Disability Day event at Government College University (GCU) Lahore stressed that access to education, appropriate training and social acceptance are essential to empowering persons with disabilities and enabling their full inclusion in mainstream society. The event, organised by GCU’s Al-Falah Society in collaboration with Almarah Foundation, was addressed by Additional IGP Training Punjab Mehboob Aslam Lilla, Chairperson Almarah Foundation Sophiya Warraich, Dr Khalid Jamil Akhtar, Mahnoor Lilla, anchorperson Zohaib Butt, Advisor Al-Falah Society Dr Muhammad Naeem Anwar, and Chairperson Islamic Studies Prof Dr Muhammad Farooq Haider.
Additional IG Mehboob Aslam Lilla urged students to discover their purpose in life and adopt service to humanity as a guiding principle. He said positive reforms were being introduced in the police department to enhance public service, particularly for vulnerable segments of society.
Sophiya Warraich described children with disabilities as a “valuable national asset” and stressed that collective, sustained efforts were vital to ensure their secure and bright future.
