Biography
With over 13 years of teaching and research experience, Dr Alvina Sabah Idrees has expertise in the field of quantitative research methodologies, both primary and secondary, with the use of software packages like R, Stata, EViews, and SPSS. Her teaching experience involves both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, blending economic theory with real-world applications. Her pedagogical approach combines theoretical discussions with case studies, data interpretation, and interactive classroom dialogues, enabling students to better grasp real-world scenarios. Her objective is to train students beyond theoretical learning by applying academic knowledge critically and creatively to analyze and address the practical realities.
She has supervised 35 BS research dissertations, 32 MPhil/MS theses and co-supervised 01 PhD thesis. She is also a three-time RASTA Competitive Grants Program (CGP) awardee. She is skilled in research assignments involving comprehensive descriptive analysis, econometric analysis, conducting field research, and developing scales for data collection. She has the capabilities to undertake robust analysis and provide insights into key economic policy decisions. She currently serves as an advisor to the university magazine, a member of the advisory board of an academic journal, and regularly contributes as a peer reviewer for national and international scholarly publications.
