The Government College University (GCU) Lahore has opened Fall 2026 admission cycle, offering seats in 120 academic programs across its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral faculties. The deadline for the submission of online applications is July 3, 2026.
The academic offerings for this cycle comprise 63 undergraduate (BS) programs, 41 postgraduate (MS/MPhil) programs, and 16 doctoral (PhD) research tracks. According to university officials, the admissions span both the historic Main Campus and the Kala Shah Kaku (KSK) Campus.
As part of its academic expansion, the university has introduced a specialized two-year Associate Degree Program (ADP) in Computer Science at the KSK campus, designed to focus on market-driven technical skills.
The university administration has streamlined its entry criteria for the upcoming year, opting not to conduct institutional entrance tests for the majority of undergraduate (BS) programs, where admissions will be decided on academic merit. However, standard statutory testing requirements remain mandatory for professional disciplines, including engineering and law, as per PEC and HEC regulations.
For postgraduate and doctoral studies, the university will conduct its mandatory institutional entry test, the GCU-GAT, on July 11, 2026. Candidates possessing valid, standardized scores from HEC-recognized national testing agencies will be exempted.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry stated that the university is actively integrating newer disciplines into its academic framework. He emphasized that recent infrastructural and academic expansion is heavily focused on developing the KSK campus to accommodate the growing volume of higher education seekers in the province.
The university has also maintained its institutional financial aid programs, quotas, and merit-based scholarships for deserving students across all disciplines.
