INTRODUCTION
The programme in Physical Education & Sport Sciences is an essential need of Pakistan in the current socio-political scenario. The crumbling social and moral fabric of the country is direly in need of the culture of peace and harmony. The aggression and violence riddled society may find some relief in sports and physical activity. The program will indirectly contribute to the promotion of tolerance and mutual co-existence in the society.
The department provides students with knowledge, skills and behaviors to enable them to achieve a degree of autonomy in developing and maintaining their physical, mental, social and emotional health. This domain focuses on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity in the lives of individuals and groups in our society. This domain is unique in having the potential to impact on the physical, social, emotional and mental health of the students. It promotes the potential for lifelong participation in physical activity through the development of motor skills and movement competence, health-related physical fitness and sport education. Engaging in physical activity, games, sport and outdoor recreation contributes to a sense of community and social connectedness. These are vital components of improved wellbeing.
Aims & Objects
- The program in Physical Education & Sport Sciences is designed to produce the graduates having a sound knowledge of the theoretical and practical subject matter;
- Along with the knowledge of the subject they would also have a broader view of other disciplines of social as well as physical sciences. It will enable the students to interact with other branches of knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the society;
- The graduates are to be empowered to establish and develop a viable and forceful line between theory / concept/ practice in the field of Health and Physical Education;
- The collective efforts behind this course are to create cohesiveness among the institutions and personnel of the sports and physical education. The similarity among the outlines has been developed to inter-relate the discipline in the global perspective thus creating an environment of healthy competition and equal opportunities for all at national and international levels;
- The programme in Physical Education & Sport Sciences is directly associated with wealth, fame and glamour. It aims at producing national heroes and outstanding models of the silver screen.
